Interview part 2

Well I think the interview went really well. My interviewers were a very friendly set of people and the delay over the phone wasn't too bad (yes luckily they decided to phone me - phew!)

The job is really important to me as (on paper at least) its perfect and importantly long term. I have done so much homework on the team that were interviewing me, the people I would potentially be working with, organisational structure, recent comany developments, staff moves that I think I got my point across that I was serious, not only about daily work, but the organisation too.

Hopefully things will work out. Prayers and best wishes gratefully accepted.

Up for rent

To arrive within our self imposed deadline (during the UK school summer holidays) we now have to consider renting our property - we've still not had a viewing. The good news is that the letting agents are confident that they will find a tennant within 3 weeks. The bad news is that we will arrive in NZ with a debt for flights and container costs, which will obviously increase with rent, food, temporary lodging, car etc.

The rent itself should cover the UK costs for mortgage, insurance etc, so at least we won't have to worry about that side of things.

We've decided that we should start the letting campaign around July 8th to give suitable time for a mid August start.

Interview

Wooo Hoo! I have an interview. Its scheduled to take place using video conferencing at 10pm UK time .

OK so now I need to get a decent webcam (I hate them - lol) and setup skype, messenger and a bundle of others to test to make sure I have no lock-ups etc.

The house fairy

On occasions you just have to believe.......

We've been chatting to other potential NZ immigrants on a forum. Naturally there are a number of us that are all in the same position (ready to go, need to sell the house etc). A while ago, someone had the bright idea of sending round a "house fairy", for good luck, and over time the package has grown to include pictures of families and letters of good luck.

The occasional visit by the fairy has resulted in a house offer or purchase over the preceeding days, so its snowballed from there, with everyone wanting the fairy in order to sell their house. Well, being ones to join the bandwagon, we have now received the aforementioned house fairy.

Lets hope she does her job, sprinkles lots of magic dust and gets us a purchaser ;)

Spotted another job

I've seen another job that's perfect for what I am looking for. Right area, decent employer, OK salary and doing just what I'm doing now. Although its a couple of grades below what I do now, its a perfect opportunity with an exciting employer.

I've changed tack with my CV and covering letter. I'm still giving the same information, but I'm tailoring it more to the position and the employer, rather than being too general. I'm also going to stress our position to arrive in NZ as soon as we can.

Looking for some action

Still no viewings on the house. We've decided to reduce the price of the house to make a more aggressive stance in the market. It's not a decision we've taken lightly, but there is just no movement at the moment. As a 3 bed detached we are now 10k more than a 3 bed end terrace in the same road.

Surely something has to give!
